As I get started with my podcast, Live Life with Sean, I thought that I would tell you about where Live Life came from and what it means to me. It has been something that I have been working on in trying to make myself a better person. So, let me explain where Live Life comes from.
About a month after my father past away, I was talking to a friend of mine and told her that I was feeling anger that day and that I did not really understand why. She asked me to pause and feel into that anger. First, she asked, "Who is the anger related to?" And the first person that popped into my head was my father. Second, she asked, "What is the reason to be angry at your father?" And after a few moments, I realized that I was angry at my father because he was no longer around which meant that I had nobody to make proud. I realized that I had been living my life with my accomplishments to make him proud of me and now that he was gone. I had nobody to make proud of what I was doing.
My friend, knowing that I like to write, asked me to sit down one day and see if there is a message from your father that wants to come through. So, one morning at Starbucks, I sat down with my open journal, my Chai ready, and tried to connect to my father. At first, I was drawn to I thanked him and told him that I did not hold him responsible for any of the habits that I picked up from him, or decisions that I made because of his influence. Then, I opened up to a series of questions that were bubbling up in my mind for him and I got some lovely responses.
I did ask him if he had any advice for me and he told me two words Live Life. Live the life that I came into this world to live. Live Life because you want to Live Life. Stop caring what other people think and Live Life. Live Life is the journey of your lifetime. Live Life is not a destination or a goal. Live Life is about being in life and living life in each moment. Live Life does not mean you are always going to be happy, nor does it mean you will always be sad. Live Life is in the moment. Feel that moment, in that moment and when that moment is done, live the next one.
I would like to say that I have always lived life, or that from that day forward I have lived life, but that would be a lie. I struggle with living life the way my father described it, but I am getting better and that may be part of Live Life. You have your ups and your downs, and if you keep getting up, keep trying to Live Life, then I think that you are doing it right. Nobody is perfect. Nobody is going to Live Life all the time and we can all try. In Live Life with Sean, I am going to share my trials and tribulations with Live Life. My hope is that through what I am sharing, something will help you on your own personal journey of Live Life.
