As I was thinking about last week’s podcast, What do you want?, I started to think about after figuring out what you wanted, What is next? The first thing that came to me was to think about The Law of Attraction. The Law of Attraction is the belief that what we think about we attract into our lives, which is a good place to start, and as I felt more into The Law of Attraction the question of Are you in alignment? came to me. Yes, wanting something is great, but are you in alignment to get what you want.

For example, if you want $1 million, how do you feel about having $1 million? Do you feel you are worthy of $1 million? How do you feel about people with $1 million? Some people may not think they are worthy of $1 million and some others might feel people with $1 million are bad people. So, even if you want $1 million, if you feel bad about having $1 million, how can you bring it into your life? Think about all the people who win the lottery only to be back to where they were several years later. Do you think they were in alignment with having all that money?

Let me give you an example from my life. Early in my relationship with my wife, she was a smoker. She constantly tried to quit and did not have success. To try and help her, I tried pointing out various different ways to quit smoking. She tried a few and failed, but I think she resented me pointing them out and begrudgingly tried them just to say she did.

A few years into our relationship, I took a self improvement course and during the course I worked on my wife quitting only to realize that I needed to change first. So, I got clear that I wanted her to be a non-smoker and started to hold the belief that she would be a non-smoker. As I felt into that belief, I shifted how I felt about her smoking, because I knew that she would quit. I got so in alignment that when she would ask me about her quitting smoking that I would say, You will quit when you are ready and I really believed and meant it. The next time that she tried to quit, she was successful and has been a non-smoker ever since. I truly believe that me being in alignment with her being a non-smoker allowed her to make the change and become a non-smoker.

Now, think about the things that you want. Are you in alignment with them? Do you have some beliefs that are holding you back from obtaining what you want? You can listen to my thought about Are You in Alignment on my recent podcast where I also walk you through a process to release some of the things holding you back.
